Today I watched a short clip about about one of Nigeria's finest business man, who right from his 20's was already a big giant, working with some heavy business men around the world, he has traveled far and near worth millions of dollars, then the interviewer asked him a question.
What was your best business decision
His answer: Coming To Nigeria
when I heard that I froze in my sit, then I asked myself why will this Billionaire in dollars say coming to Nigeria was really his best business decision so far?
I wouldn't know if he actually meant what he said or was just saying things, but I don't think there is any reason for this man to play with such words knowing how many people will take it to heart, then I said to my self this same Country that things are falling apart, wrong government on seat, deteriorating system yet someone said coming to Nigeria was his best idea, mind you this is a recent video and this decision was made years ago.
this kind of things raise a lot of concerns, in a country were a lot of it's citizens are eagerly waiting to be approved to leave, travel to some far away country seeking greener pasture, where the system and structures are right in place, were everything seems nice, then there is a man who has gone far ahead explore most countries of the world, both Europe, Asia, America even some African countries then made a decision to come back home and establish a multiple billion dollar business and calls it the best decision he's ever made.
it look like an ironical statement on the surface but deep down it's connotes some strong sense, you see for a fact I know that some African counties especially Nigeria is an emerging global market, any serious intentional business or industry out there that is no target at these emerging markets will soon run out of business because the statistics are clear and obvious:The population, massive opportunity, labour workforce, land etc all these are good opportunities to leverage on.
there is gold in Africa, but the reality is, most African have myopic mindset, well I wouldn't totally discredit us like that, it's just a matter of leadership and the right government in power,
the fact is in a country such like ours were there is barely enough system and structures to leverage on, one probably must source for opportunities outside then reinvest back in, I strongly believe this is the reality of things at the moment.
