Yesterday, I received my parcel of home essentials from Puregold online. Alongside the practical items like detergent, soap, and toothpaste, there was one unexpected treat: a box of Choco Mucho Dark Chocolate Wafer Roll.
I’m not even sure why I ordered it. Maybe it was just a random choice, or maybe my subconscious nudged me toward it. As soon as I saw the wafer, a memory surfaced. It was the very same treat my first boyfriend gave me when he was courting me.
Our relationship ended for personal reasons, and perhaps we were simply not meant for each other. Life has moved on for him; he’s now committed to someone else and blessed with two children. But despite all that, I can’t deny that he was my very first serious relationship.
Holding that wafer yesterday made me wonder: does first love really never die? Maybe it doesn’t vanish completely. It just transforms into a quiet memory, tucked away in the corners of our hearts, waiting to be awakened by something as simple as a chocolate wafer.
