Hello, Hive Friends! 👋 Last night, while browsing my GCash app, I stumbled upon something that made me pause—a GCash Flashback 2025. It was like a rewind button pressed on my financial life, showing me the flow of money, I received and spent throughout the year.
To my surprise, I learned that I received a total of ₱597,601 last year. At first glance, that number felt huge, but reality quickly set in when I saw that I spent ₱450,257.
Where did it all go?
• Monthly bills and loan payments
• Bank transfers to support my mother’s sari-sari store and for her needs, too (since my father was gone for 6 months now)
• Emergency help for my siblings’ families
• Prepaid loads and personal expenses (my own load and sometimes load of my siblings, nephews and nieces when they chat me that they need load for online classes)
Some of the funds I received came from bank loans, which made me a little sad. But I reminded myself: those loans weren’t wasted. They became lifelines for my family when funds ran short.
I’m working hard to pay off those monthly loans, mostly through GCash. And because freelancing alone isn’t enough, I’ve ventured into online side hustles. My dream is to find a permanent, high-paying online job soon. After more than a decade in corporate life, I grew tired of commuting and chose freelancing. Now, I prefer the flexibility of online work over onsite jobs.
This flashback wasn’t just about numbers. It was about sacrifices, resilience, and hope. It reminded me that while money flows in and out, what truly matters is how we use it to support the people we love and how we keep striving for better opportunities.
Thank you, Hive friends, for taking the time to read my reflections. 💙 May we all continue to learn from our past, embrace our present, and work hard for a brighter future.
Motivational Twist for Fellow Freelancers:
To my fellow freelancers who might be walking the same path: remember that every peso earned, every loan repaid, and every side hustle tried is proof of your resilience. Freelancing is not always easy, but it gives us the freedom to design our own future. Keep pushing forward, keep learning, and keep believing that the right opportunity will come.
