It's been quite a few months since I've done a HPUD. Various little things happened all adding up, and I just couldn't be bothered anymore. The state of things got pretty crap. Milkers milk, scammers scam, abusers abuse, trashers trash, bleeders bleed. And it just went on and on like there was no end to it.
It's like my garden this year, I put a lot of effort looking after my plants, water and feed them so they're strong and healthy. But then the bugs kept on coming. First were the slugs, then it was the caterpillars. They gnawed at the veggies till there was nothing left. Then they laid eggs to multiply their colony to keep on eating invasively. It was not a pretty sight.
All my efforts went down the drain. It was pointless to grow anything else. In the end I just decided to kill it all off. Like it or not, I have the power to do what I feel is right. And that's what I did.
Then I figured maybe things doesn't have to be this bad. Maybe there's a way to make things better. You can't totally eliminate the bugs and unwanted predators. They're part of the ecosystem. It's natural for them to act like that, it's in their blood to take and take and take. How about I change tack and focus on the plants instead? I can help the seedlings grow stronger and bigger using whatever means I have.
Ok, I'm starting to digress a little. This is a HPUD and not a garden post, but the two environments are quite similar. There will always be milkers and bleeders on Hive. There will always be those who take and don't give. And there will always be those who don't care, as long as they can bleed a few cents everyday. They are one big part of the problem, and sadly an integral part of the Hive ecosystem. Fixing this problem is an ongoing effort.
In order to make Hive a healthier and better place, the other thing we can do is to support and help the genuine quality accounts to grow. Those who bring value to Hive. Quality and value can be subjective, but luckily there some on Hive who agree on what the minimum threshold is, and look for those who exceed this. What is this threshold you ask. IYKYK.
They support the said accounts in their own way, but predominately through their own stake, and curation from their communities or major curation guilds. They couldn't have made it more clear what they will and will not support, so it's up to you, the reader to decide if you want to get on the bandwagon.
"They" have no formal structure, think of it as a mindset. You can be part of it, even if you have 1000 HP you can still support quality accounts that add value to Hive. Or you can choose to be one of those latter accounts, be on the receiving end, and in turn support others with the same mindset as you grow. My power up this month is part of my ongoing objective to support all this.
This HPUD post is a day late I was supposed to publish it yesterday when I powered up. I couldn't work out how to write this post without making it too controversial coz some people don't like being told what they can or can't do. I'm not doing that here, merely making you aware of some options, so please don't go mad at me. If you like the sound of all this, I hope you will consider joining in, if not, thanks for reading to the end of my post, I hope it has still given you some food for thought.
