A unpaid bill from decades back charging Dad
We had a land line phone long back, as far as I remember, probably couple of decades back. Dad was doing alright then, and he was the one who was taking care of all the financials and paying the bills. I never thought, he owed any bill or amount to anyone, because Dad was very honest and righteous person. In fact many people took money from Dad, some even telling lies. I know few incidences when those people came back regretting their act, but there would definitely be many more incidences.
I don't know how my mail id was with them, but in August 2023 I got a legal notice, for immediate action and due compliance:
Unfortunately Dad does not remember anything since last few years and even there are no records at home that we can validate. I am not sure, when they reminded him again and again - not at least when he was having his memory right because otherwise he would have swiftly paid without even telling us.
That my client reminded you time and again and also brought the above said matter to your notice and asked you to clear the outstanding payment but so far you have not made the payment to my client.
And they have been sending a reminder mail once in a while, the last one 3 days back. I am not sure, what this Lok Adalat does, but it makes me wonder, why the govt not pay fine, when they don't deliver the service which they are supposed to. At that time, the service quality was very poor and there was even no SLA for the repair. Unless you had some ground staff, whom you knew and could tip off, they never worried to provide the service for which we were paying. As a common man, there is no respite for us, to not pay taxes, don't we deserve the service in return ? Why can't they set up a simple process which will allow us to report incidences and then the system take legal proceedings and/or action against them, when they fail to deliver service, without we being much involved. And the most irritating part of this whole conversations it that, you can't reply them.

The entire system needs to change to bring transparency, but at times I feel, they (all political parties) knowingly don't do it because at the end it will impact most of them, having all the unreported wealth. Everything is possible in the name of democracy.
Has anyone filed any legal proceedings against a govt office ? Would like to know about their experience. Also any idea about how far this Lok Adalat things can go ?
