I have not used an alarm clock for years now. I only use it whenever I have to take an early flight to make sure I do not fall asleep, although I have been waking up with my biological clock very early for more than 20 years.
As we are approaching the launch of the beer-related service, things are starting to speed up. We are having a lawyer's meeting as we have decided to incorporate a company in Spain at launch and give us time to decide how to move forward as the project evolves, as I do not feel comfortable with the Spanish laws once the business starts dealing with crypto income. Estonia is one of the options which is getting more points but we still have to evaluate others. We plan to have the official public launch at Barcelona Beer Festiva, which will take place end of March. More on that in the coming weeks.
Last night I was thinking of taking the train to town as traffic in the mornings is terrible, but as I woke up at 5:30, I decided to take a shower and drive to town, have breakfast there while working for a while before the meeting which is at 9:30. My parents still have a couple of parking spots not far away from the place I am having the meeting, so that, besides knowing I would not find too much traffic at that time, made me decide to drive.
While having my white coffee and Spanish "jamon" croissant, I was thinking about how we have to adapt our schedules depending on the commute we do depending on the place we live. I used to work in town many years ago and it was exhausting having to think every day about the best time and way to get to the city. Not to mention the lost time and money.
Working from home makes me think twice before setting a face-to-face meeting, as many times the "cost" is too high for the value you get. Today is an exception as it is a new law firm and I've never met the managers, I decided to ask for a quote and have a meeting with them as an old friend of mine works here, and I have not seen her in many years.
As I am in town, I will also try to schedule another meeting with some partners we have not met IRL yet, if I can manage to do so, It will be a pretty productive morning.
While working on my morning meetings, I stopped for a second to add a couple of things to the HUGE to-do list for the coming Portugal trip. I realized how easy things are when I am there. I plan to be working from there this time, as I will be there for two or three weeks. But there is not rush hour, no traffic jams, no commute, no parking issues. Your brain has much more time to focus on whatever you need. to, forgetting about wasting time on those, not productive things that take most of our mental efforts every day in this fast rush live most of us live in. It is on days like today that I realize how lucky those who work remotely are. You can "take" work wherever you are, forget about commuting, be productive anywhere, and have time to type my Hive post to keep in touch with all my W3 friends out there. Then when I have a chance to meet some of them IRL those I've had the pleasure to do, it is a great feeling!
