Unfortunately, you do not need to go to a coffee to realize how little by little, misery is growing in our world. It is true you do not see as many people smiling at coffee shops but actually, those are the lucky ones.
More and more people sleeping in the streets close to free dining areas, more and more people at the grocery store entrance begging for some charity, or more and more people looking into the trash bins trying to find something valuable.
Then, there are those entering panic, as some friends I have living in Iran, who are safe but frightened with all going on.
When I think on the days I am picking the olives on the farm in Portugal, I realize why I am in such a happy mood while there, it is basically because I try to stay away from world news and focus as much as possible on the local life and friends I have there, most of them from other countries in Europe who have decided to relocate there escaping from harder economic conditions they were facing at their home countries once they are getting older. Good they can do it, but actually kind of sad too.
