I have my personal opinion on the Spanish president and government decision of not letting the US bases be used for this war. I do not agree on the US deciding who is a good or a bad NATO member. As you mention, an agreement means both parties agree, and if one does not, it just means there is no agreement, period. Instead the us frightens with comercial sanctions and all the shit they do all over the world.
I do not like how human rights are not considered in Iran, I have friends there who have been suffering the repression for many years. I also do not feel confortable with Iran having atomic power, but who the hell is one country, be it US, or Israel, to decide they can or cannot have nuclear power when both of them do.
On the other hand, there is a strong opposition of the goberning party in Spain right now, the PSOE, needs support from other minor parties to lead the country and polls show they may not be in the position to remain in power after next year elections. The sadest part of all this story is how the governing party and the opposition are using the US support to gain popularity to try to win next year election instead of really deciding for the best of the country.
All in all, power ruling shit all over...
BTW, that's a nice photo of the old town. :)
