The tension in middle east has severely disturbed the LPG cylinder market in india. There is a shortage of cooking gas at many places and the oil companies are trying their best to cater the public demand. The most affected of them are the people residing in urban areas. It is strange how the life is enormously depends on cooking gasses. People in urban areas are greatly affected as they do not have any additional sources. Especially to those who has some family function likes marriages at home. The ongoing marriage season has created a chaos. Most of the family are biting the dust just because the meals are prepared on cooking gasses and in short supply they are unable to cater the chefs demand. But at the same time people living in rural areas are happily arranging grand fiesta as they have some additional source apart from the cooking cylinder.
This is first time I have seen the rural people.having an edge over the urban people. Few months ago, while I was in city, I saw a bride father literally crying as he was unable to arrange the cooking cylinders for the marriage function. Everything was arranged in advance buy on the fateful days, the short supply made it impossible for him to make all the arrangement for the marriage reception. Later, it was the friendly neighbourhood who pitched in with their spare cylinders. Today I witnessed similar situation at my village, however the bride father was not worried at all. He was at chill and made aome alternative way to cook the food for the marriage reception.
Whipping up chaos in the kitchen
A grand reception with multiple cuisine is seen as a representation of family prosperity, pride, and social status. Indian culture emphasizes hospitality and hosting large numbers of guests, including extended family, friends, and acquaintances. It is a time for community reunion and celebration. In rural areas the number of guests is much more because of the extended community and village people. So deal with the mass food preparation, the bride father has arranged for a make shift cooking stove that work on wooden logs.
In rural settings, the chulha is built directly into the ground or on a raised platform, with the wood providing efficient heating for daily meals. In the marriage set up, a round block is made using the bricks and then it is filled up with large wooden logs. Thick logs are used for long duration cooking, smaller sticks, dry twigs, crop waste, and cow dung cakes are often used to start the fire or maintain a low, steady flame. The makeshift cooking stove helps the family from the over burden chaos of the cooking gas. Rather than getting upset of undue worry, the availability of alternative solution is a way to deal with the pressure situation. Such alternative is not feasible in urban set up. There by the Rural life is scoring an additional point above the Urban lifestyle.
It has been a general view that life in rural areas is tough, but looking at the way every problem has simple solution, it is good to give a thought once again.
In good faith - Peace!!
