We Talk Friday
(WTF)
This is a semi-regular series that I will run on Fridays to hold discussions on a current topic from the week gone. The aim is to keep them light and conversational, though some might be heavier - regardless of the content topic itself though, just have some fun engaging and discussing with whoever happens to put in the effort in the comments section below.
We Talk Friday Ep. 45: Criminals, Chocolates and Cars
True or False?
In one interview, the woman said Epstein took her to “either New York or New Jersey” and introduced her to Trump. She told investigators that she bit Trump when he attempted to force her to perform oral sex on him.
You know it is true.
Moving on....
Price Point?
I was reading an article about the large Finnish chocolate producer Fazer and how they have signed some deal to expand into the Indian market. Now, since this is normal supermarket chocolate and nothing fancy, I have to say that Fazer chocolate is really, really good. It isn't gluggy and overly sweet like American chocolate, and has a far better flavour than Cadbury's in Australia and UK. But I was wondering... What will the price of it be in India, considering:
I think that is about 1% of a decent monthly salary in India, and 2% of an average salary. Is that correct, or has Google lied to me? My point is, where you live today, would you spend 1% of your salary on a 180g bar of chocolate? Probably not. So as my wife said to me today when I mentioned this to her, "Well, they will drop the price for the Indian market". Right.
So what does that say about what they are charging us!!
This happens a lot with Finnish products, because Finns buy Finnish. Well, they used to. Since they have started to travel more and now there is internet shopping, more Finnish brands are suffering. Serves them right in my opinion, because (as I have said for 20+ years already), they are price gouging their most loyal market. And as I was saying recently... Alternatives
Double Vrooooom!
And it is the first race of the F1 season this weekend, kicking off in Melbourne, Australia. I still think it should have stayed in Adelaide, but not much can be done about that. Still, it has been a bit of an interesting lead into the GP, as the kerfuffle in the Middle East meant that teams have had to scramble to get their people and equipment to the race on time, as they were recently testing in Bahrain. But they are there now, so crisis averted - unless Trump decides to bomb Melbourne - In some areas, you might not see the difference from now.
But, in April there should be two meets in the Middle East, with Bahrain and Saudi Arabia on the list, after China and Japan. But with that all up in the air, there may be some cancellations, reschedules, or double event races, with Melbourne possibly holding another race weekend next month. It would make sense to have one back in Melbourne, as they already on this side of the world.
Whether exceptional circumstances take affect or not, I am looking forward to the coming F1 season because while many more purist than me think that the 50/50 fuel/electric power ruleset has ruined the game, I reckon it has put the cat in amongst the pigeons and we might be in for some close racing with surprising results.
