Most of our lives, we make plans, goals, action boards, and such and such, but we never get to accomplish them. That is because we lack the ability to do one of these two things or both of them.
First, the ability to break it down into chunks, and second, the ability to adapt to whatever we may face en route to that goal.
Firstly, breaking it down into chunks. Make it stupidly small such that even in your weakest days, you can still do them. You see, sometimes we try to do too much in too little time. That does not work well, and if you have experience with this kind of stuff, you know that when you do a large chunk out of a goal in one moment, you feel very burnt out at the end.
In order to avoid this kind of situation, what you do is to make the goal, then minimize it. For example, if you want to write a book, instead of writing 10 pages in one day and then not writing again for 10 days, write 1 page a day for 10 days.
If you can keep doing that, the amount you can take on at a time will be gradually increased until you get to a point where you can write 3 chapters in one day.
Don’t try to consume everything at once. Your body likes to take stuff it can handle, and to do so slowly. You eat a large amount of food spoon by spoon, not by stuffing it all at once. If you stuff it all in, then you will either have to take some time to cool down or you just vomit the entire thing at once, resetting your progress.
Secondly, you are to be able to adapt. We are too rigid in the way we handle our goals and ourselves. If you have a goal that requires you to be in a place of immense focus, then change your environment.
Don’t wait for the place to start affecting you before you start thinking of what to do. If you make a plan to do something at 5:00, and you are obstructed, don’t trash the plan; adjust it, and make it something else.
You shouldn’t overdo stuff when you know that your environment won’t allow you to. If your environment is uncomfortable, change it. If your friends won’t allow you to do what you want to do, then dissociate from them. If a device is restricting you, then keep it far away from yourself.
