I recently read a post about regret and similar experiences. The truth is that we have all examined our lives at one point or another and looked back at things we did not do well or opportunities we missed. Is there anyone on earth who does not have one or two moments where they felt wronged or regretted their actions? I do not think so. At some point in our lives, we have all made decisions that did not turn out well in the end. Some decisions may even sadden our hearts and make us feel like giving up on life completely. It happens, and that is part of being human. Humans are full of flaws, and it takes courage and deliberate effort to own up to and take responsibility for our actions.
It is normal for someone to regret their actions, but beating oneself up over them for too long will not help the situation; it may only make things worse. Although there are some people who never own up to their actions and instead blame others or circumstances for what happened to them. Such people may not go far in life, and they may not even understand why their lives are not progressing. It is important to note that everything happens for a reason. Some experiences are meant to shape us, while others are meant to help us retrace our steps, put things in order, and correct the abnormalities within us.
The truth is that someone can do everything right and still get an unfavourable result. At other times, a person may put little effort into something and still achieve great success. That is simply life, and it is essential that we do not take everything too seriously.
In every action or endeavour, it is important to understand that disappointment is inevitable. When we see life from that perspective, we learn not to beat ourselves up too much when things are not going well or when our efforts do not produce the expected results.
One thing I have noticed in life is that we should not limit ourselves to just one thing. If you are looking for a job, it is essential to apply to different industries and institutions. One opportunity will eventually work out. If you limit your efforts only to places where you think you have an easy chance, it may become difficult to achieve more in life.
Nothing good ever comes easy. I remember when I was searching for a job. I applied for positions where I thought I had a high chance of being employed, but I was disappointed in the end because things did not work out in my favour. I applied for another one too, only to be rejected again. I felt bad about myself and everything around me, but in the end, it was the job I never even imagined I could get that eventually worked out for me. I applied and was invited for an interview. The first time, I was not employed. To my surprise, I was invited again a second time, and this time it worked out. The most interesting and amusing part of it all was that even after I got the job, they still called me again to confirm whether I had truly been employed. In all sincerity, I did not know anyone there. So imagine if I had given up after the first or second disappointment; what would have happened? Life does not really come with a manual, and we can never truly tell which effort will succeed and which one will not.
In all, it is normal to feel regret at some point in life, but we should not beat ourselves up too much over it. Life goes on regardless, and even dry bones can rise again.
