Life is fleeting, which is why we do not have to leave everything to chance. Whatever we want to do should not be procrastinated. The longer the delay, the more our hearts may lose the drive to pursue the ideas we once had.
They say time waits for nobody, and it cannot be stopped. The saying also goes that no one can restrict the hand of the clock. Figuratively, this is true. Just because you do nothing does not mean time will wait for you until you are ready to make an effort. If you do nothing, you should certainly expect nothing in return. Failure is what such a person will get at the end of the day.
No one can categorically say they know what life has in store for them, even when they make efforts to achieve success. Some people have their lives cut short before they reach their goals and aspirations. Some plan to become great, only for their lives to be cut short without fulfilling their purpose.
We tend to live for others even when there is no such opportunity for us, yet we take it upon ourselves to be relevant and support others to the best of our abilities. We beckon on life to have pity on us and show us kindness. That is why many of us keep running helter-skelter, looking for what is not lost. Many seek adventure to live a meaningful life by seeking spiritual favour from those who they believe can offer it.
A few have plenty, while many struggle to make ends meet. Some beg for food, while others live in abundance. They say we should give to charity, yet they forget that charity begins at home. People around us can also feel our impact when we render service to humanity. I remember when I was in school, facing life’s difficulties while trying to survive schooling and work together. I also remember those who did not have to go through such stress and difficulties because someone had already done it for them. This is to say that if you are free in life and going through a painless journey, you should know that someone made sacrifices for you. That is why I love Yoruba adages so much. They say, “Oò sà kí lógè, kò tà ọgógóró ló fà, kó sì retí kí ọtí ọpẹ̀ jáde.” You did not climb the palm tree, you did not tap palm wine, yet you expect palm wine to flow."
The best we can do in this life is to live for other people so that we will not be forgotten. If you are afraid of being crucified or tormented, then you are not ready to live a meaningful life. Life is not easy, and achieving success requires consistency and perseverance. If you are not ready to prepare both body and soul, it may be difficult to achieve your dreams in the end.
