If there is one thing I have learnt in this world, it is that the older we get, the more we realise that most of the struggles for wealth we pursued in the past, and some of the arguments we engaged in, were not even worth it at all. Another thing we learn is that life means nothing if we gather everything only to leave it behind for people who never struggled with us while we were building it. The fact that some family members will eventually gather and fight over such inheritance is even more sickening.

Another important thing to notice is that the world does not really care about you in the first instance. So, living our lives trying to please people who do not genuinely care about us is as useless as anything else. Hardly will people remember the clothes you wore the previous day because everyone is busy battling with their own lives and trying to make things better for themselves.
Life should not be taken too seriously. I was at work today and saw pictures of past principals from several years ago. If not for those pictures hanging on the wall, we would never have heard about them. No one would even know such people once worked in that capacity as principal. What does this teach us about life? It is all vanity. People who are not even born yet will still sit on those same chairs someday. That is why we have to tread softly in whatever position we find ourselves in as bosses or leaders. We should not use our offices to manipulate, oppress people, or make life difficult for them.
Another thing life teaches us as we grow older is to value and enjoy the time we have with our parents and loved ones, instead of focusing only on work. Most times, those moments cannot be bought back once they are gone. We also realise that it is not about age but achievement. You will see people moving and associating with others who are far younger than they are. That is just life and how things work as we grow. At some point, people care less about your age and more about the achievements you can show for your life.
Another thing is that there are truly no permanent friends or enemies for everyone. At some point in our lives, we may find ourselves alone. Many of the people we grew up with may no longer be there for us. Some might have died, while others may have relocated far away. Old age and life circumstances naturally make people drift apart.
Life is only for a while, so we should not live holding too many grudges. It never ends well. Life goes on regardless of whatever it throws at us.
