Nature is bursting with life, here in the northern hemisphere. We are at one of the most active periods of the year, of the sun's cycle. The land around me is so fertile right now, green and lush after lots of rain at the beginning of April. Life is bursting forth, at this peak time, wild flowers are to be found everywhere, the sound of birdsong fills the air. This is a time for expression, such a potent time, of high energy. Nature calls on us, to burst forth with our own creativity.
I certain feel like I have been answering the call, with all the time I have been spending making decor for Love Pirates and also on the land, creating new gardens, ready to plant out some summer veg. The cold has left these parts, the warmth of summer has begun. We can still get a little chill first thing in the morning, but it does not last.
I have just walked home in the dark, after meeting with some of my closet friends to celebrate Beltain. To honour the relationship with have with one another and with ourselves. I left my friends home after 10p.m and it was still warm, the sure sign that summer is not far off. You can feel it in the air. I do love to walk in the dark, with only the moonlight to guide me and the silhouette of the mountains head of me, calling me home. Feeling very grateful for the fact that I live in this beautiful pace.
Hearing the flow of water next to me, as the ancient waterways, the acequia, is running. Glorious water that helps to keep the land fertile. Walking home, I reflect on where I am, on what I desire and what I need. Thinking about how I can create the most positive and fertile environment in which to grow the best seeds of myself. What I need in order to grow. To really think about what it is in my life that I need to focus on and nurture.
Surrounded by the energy of Beltain, now is the perfect time to reach out for what I want and allow that fertile, expansive energy, carry me along.
I had a wonderful feast with my friends, we ate the most delicious and nurturing food. Each of us, bringing a dish, me I brought a rocket salad. The rocket from my garden, along with grated beetroot, carrot, chopped apples and hemp seeds, with a coconut and orange dressing. With that we had sushi, pickled veg, roasted asparagus and for desert, a vegan raw key lime pie. My body rejoiced after each bite I took. It was so good and a wonderful way to celebrate life. To take time for myself with my friends.
I celebrate the celtic festivals, following the solar cycle, so that I can connect with the underlying energies of the earth. Connecting then, with the wildness that resides within us all. That sacred and potent part of myself, where I connect with my heart and from a deep respect and love for the earth. Tapping into my inner wisdom, that wild creative part of me, that follows the same beat of the earth. Each celebration is an opportunity to dive deeper. Just look to nature and she will show you the way.
Wishing you all a beautiful Beltain.
