The laws of physics and the evolution of life on planets are uniform throughout our Universe. There are billions of star systems billions of years older than our solar system. Therefore, more advanced intelligence should have long ago existed on our planet. But civilizations millions of years older than ours are unimaginably far removed from us in terms of development, and we are likely unable to communicate with them. Perhaps they already exist in non-biological bodies.
