Truly, we don't own our lives.
Because if we did, we would see the future and prevent some things from happening.
Yeah, that quote flashed through my mind when I confirmed what caused the crowd I saw on the expressway while I was using the pedestrian bridge to cross to the other side of the road.

The Accident Scene
There was an accident, I thought. Some incidents plunge us into deep reflection and remind us to always appreciate the life we have and make good use of it each day because tomorrow is not promised.
We don't own our lives, so any day we find ourselves alive, we should be grateful to God for the gift of life.
Early last week, I went on a restock shopping trip, and it was day 2 for me. I like to buy things in bulk—it's economical and time-saving. Just a few minutes before I arrived at the local market, there was an accident along the expressway.
The crowd I saw gave me a sense of how fatal it was. This is what I usually see in movies or read online, but this time around it was real.
I went to the first spot to purchase some items and heard the sellers discussing the accident. They advised me not to cross the road through the expressway when going back home, but to use the pedestrian bridge instead.
I dread crossing the expressway and prefer to use the bridge.
I spotted some police officers at the scene investigating the accident and securing the area.
What Happened?
A young deliveryman was on his way to deliver some items when he got hit by a trailer truck. The accident was fatal.
When I saw the video, all I could exclaim was: "Jesus! Oh no!"
So many thoughts ran through my mind—his family, the fact that he's gone, that he never saw this coming, and more.
Oh, why didn't he wear his helmet?
Some people asked.
Are you serious? His helmet was on before the accident happened. I was in shock for a while. It was a scene that made me wonder how the trailer truck lost control and hit him on his delivery bike.
He left his house that morning without knowing how his day would unfold. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
The Aftermath
When I went further into the market, I heard some market women talking about how a few people were planning to take some items from the deceased.
I was shocked. How can people be insensitive? Where is the world heading?
The women were bitter and rained curses on the people who would take his belongings.
I was hoping the good people around the scene found something to reveal his identity, contact, or address to inform his logistics company, family, and friends.
After I left the market, any deliveryman on a bike and trailer truck I saw reminded me of the accident. It took me some time to recover from what I saw in the video. I asked myself if I had just seen someone's brain.
Reflections on Life
Please be safe out there; every life matters. Each day you open your eyes and witness a new day, give thanks to God for being among the living, and commit your day into his hands.
Take each day as seriously as ever. Every new day is a blessing. Every new day counts.
Life is unpredictable.
