Do you believe in life before death?
A priest asked me this question recently. And indeed, it is the question we should ask ourselves when we feel that life might be more than what we currently have.
Every day we are confronted with the image we have of ourselves. We may not be at our best. But we must learn to make the most of what we have, and try to do better each time.
There is no point in looking ahead to another day, or to another dimension, when what we have is the present.
If the life we have now isn’t bringing us what we hope for, we must then consider whether what we want or what we hope for might depend more on us, and less on ‘what life gives us’.
Sometimes there isn’t much desire to face our fears, leave our anxieties behind, and do what we haven’t done yet.
If we want to achieve different results, we cannot keep waiting for different outcomes whilst continuing to adopt a passive and defeated attitude.
We must ask the right questions and not let frustrations limit our thinking. We must try to look further ahead, but always with our feet firmly on the ground, confident that a better day will come, but that we will be a key part of making it happen.
