Hello friends, here I am reflecting on things in life that we see or hear, but to which we don't give importance. We see them as passing things that won't happen to us.
We hear many phrases, for example: "The last shall be first," "He who doesn't listen to advice won't grow old." In Venezuela, we call them proverbs, sayings, but they all have a lot of truth in them, why don't we analyze them?
Another phrase is: "The last time... I went to the movies," "The last time... I traveled," and many more last times, but it's not like that, because in our daily life we shouldn't say "the last time," because it happens again and it's no longer the last time.
When I go to a place where there's a line, like at the bank, there's always someone at the end of the line. When I join the line, I don't ask, "Who is the last one?" but "Who is the second to last?" because when I join, I wouldn't be the last one either, but the second to last, because as people arrive, they line up behind. The last one will be determined at the end when they announce that the bank is closing: "The last one is the one in the blue shirt," for example. As I said, we don't say that, others do.
And there are many last times like that. It happens that these are things that have been said for years, generations, we always repeat them, but we still have time to change. But they are not last times, because we don't know when we will be able to do something again. It's been years since I went to the movies, but I don't say "the last time I went to the movies was in..." but rather "the second to last time I went to the movies, I watched the movie."
We can't say "the last time" about ourselves, but we can about others. For example, a friend recently passed away last week and the last time I saw him alive was last year. For him, we can say last times, like the last time he went to work, the last time he went to church, and more last times.
Don't think that we don't have time to change. If we have life, we can do it. We can also teach others to change that way of thinking, of saying things. Just like this won't be the last post, when I decide I don't want to do it anymore, then I will make a farewell post about the last time I write here on Hive. In the meantime, there's still a lot to keep writing.
