Hello everyone! It's been a few days that I am not feeling well, and I've got a feeling that I have this difficulty breathing. But after many things happened, I finally got over it. I will share with you what I have done to relieve my condition.
What had happened?
Last week, I was sent to our company clinic when I had that panic attack. I felt so embarrassed when the nurses went up to pick me up with a wheelchair.
I preferred to walk rather than sit in that wheelchair. I had no choice because a security guard came up also to bring and push the wheelchair.
It wasn't very comfortable because I was not used to those people's eyes looking at me while we were heading to the clinic, so I kept my eyes closed and had my head down until we got there.
At the clinic, the nurse took my vital signs. I had that low blood pressure and a fast pulse rate. I got oxygen for about ten minutes to catch up on my breathing. I rested for about an hour, and my manager told me to go home to rest.
The nurse told me about what had happened. It was because of too much stress and sadness. She also advised me to rest, do whatever makes me happy, and relax to divert those destructive emotions.
The next day...
My manager excused me for a day from work after what happened. I had my undisturbed sleep for more than eight hours without rushing to go to work. I felt so relaxed. I was also thinking about other things I would do.
I want to feel the one-day rest provided to me. It's not supposed to be for one day only. My manager asked me if I wished to have some extended leave. It was just my choice to have a one-day rest only.
I listened to many Melo and classical music until I reached the covered songs of Disney. I've heard Reese Lansangan's cover song of "I Won't Say I'm in Love".
The song was also in the film's soundtrack for the animated movie Hercules. It was written by composer Alan Menken and lyricist David Zippel, then sung by American actress and singer Susan Egan as Meg, Hercules' love interest.
Many singers had a cover of that song, but I feel differently about how Reese sings it. I repeatedly listened to her cover song until I got inspired to draw Meg on my handy sketchpad.
DRAW WITH ME!
Art has been one of my passions since I was young. Aside from music, art turns my emotion and energy positive. I'm grateful for these things because they help me overcome my weakest point, even when alone.
Since I'm not familiar with the facial structure of Megara, I picked a reference from Pinterest. I used a pencil for sketching and a sign pen to darken the line.
Here are the steps of how I draw Meg/Megara...
First, I start sketching my subject's eyes or the object's center, then drawing the other parts around it. I am used to doing free-hand drawing, maybe because I am not always willing to make grid lines or sketch some circles or anything to make your subject perfect. Hahaha, I am just making my own rules. There's nothing wrong with following the guidelines in the drawing to ensure everything is perfect, but I'm doing some lazy things to finish things immediately. π
It's been a long time also that I haven't drawn using a pencil/pen. My hand is not as steady and calm as before. It shakes whenever I hold the pencil.
Here is the sketch I created. I only drew half of the body. Unfortunately, it isn't perfectly centered. That's why I also added an oblong background so it will not be too obvious. π
Second, I used a pen to make the lines more visible. It's a choice to make the line thin or thicker.
If you notice the inconsistency, my hand was a bit shaky in this case, and I accidentally made some of them broader than intended. It appears that it was just a matter of style. π
Then, I added shadows on some parts. Since I am using a pen, I just used the hatching technique for an easier and faster process. I applied extra pressure to the pen with my hand to create darker shadows. Without this added weight, the shadows appear lighter.
Besides, adding more fine lines will also make the area appear darker, while fewer fine lines will make it look lighter. This technique can also help alleviate pressure on your hand.
Finally, I used the other pen that I found beside the road while heading to work. π
It was late at night when I found that Unipin. I thought that a student maybe dropped it since there were a lot of students passing by. I know how much that pen costs. I know I can afford it, but it's also a chance to have it for free.π
At first, I was hesitant to pick it up because people were passing by. But I guess they don't mind if I'm going to pick it up. They will think that it is just a pen. So I went back and picked up the pen. As a demon laughs in my mind, I sprayed it with alcohol and put it inside my bag. Anyways, enough for that. π
Going back to the topic... π
To give a unique touch and avoid repeating the hatching technique, I incorporated the Circulism technique in the background. I enjoyed doing this technique because it's like you are simply playing with your pen. After filling up the background, I put my signature on and...
Here it is! My art piece of Megara...
...After making this piece, I realized that doing recreational activities would also save your life.
If you have the same health issues as me, it's not too late for everything...
Instead of spending the entire time lying in bed and scrolling on your phone or spending too much energy at work, which can increase your stress and anxiety levels, engaging in activities that you enjoy and that are beneficial for your well-being is also essential.
