Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos on the Nerl. A striking representative of my favorite architectural type of ancient Russian churches: small, powerful, strong, snow-white, without any special architectural excesses and pretentiousness. Such buildings remind me of heroes from Russian fairy tales.
The church is located in the Vladimir region, on the banks of the Nerl River, which is mentioned in the name. In the spring, the river overflows and cuts off the church on a hill, which was artificially created during construction. The exact date of the construction of the building is unknown, but it is approximately determined as the middle of the 12th century.
