How many wonderful landscapes await us around the bends of the roads just on the way to some destination. I remember quite a number of roads that were maddeningly beautiful and on which I wanted to drive for weeks, stopping every 20 minutes just to admire the surroundings. It's a pity that this is almost impossible — time is often limited by something.
I saw this landscape on the way to Lake Iskanderkul, Tajikistan. The Iskander Darya River flows below, and beautiful multi-colored walls of the gorge close around it. The mountain road runs along the river and there are plenty of places where you want to stop for a while.
