Found in north of both eastern and Western Hemisphere. The Great Grey owl is the largest of its species. These large owls can be found in dense coniferous forests and in open areas such as meadows and bogs. Here is Canada they are often spotted in the thick boreal forest the runs across the entire country.
I found this owl in the boreal region of Manitoba hunting in an open bog. The snow was 4 feet deep making it difficult for the Great Greys to find food in the deep snow.
It is always a special moment watching these birds. They can be very hard to find as they have some amazing natural camaflouge. Keep your eyes open and get outside friends!
