The bejuca or brown bejuquillo is a kind of thin and elongated snake with brown designs on the back. It is arboreal, diurnal and specializes in eating lizards and occasionally insects, anurans, birds and even small mammals. It is distributed from southern Arizona3 to northern South America. It is listed as Least Concern (LC) by the IUCN Red List.4
Description
Like all species of the Oxybelis genus, O. aeneus is characterized by being extremely elongated and thin, as well as by its head and snout, which is three or more times longer than the diameter of the eye. The eye is medium in size with a round pupil. He appears to have keen eyesight with a wide binocular field of vision.
