Rice island teaches us about a humble attitude. Since childhood, I was always taught about the philosophy of rice by my mother.
Going for a walk to the rice fields is not just to connect with nature. We will look at the characteristics of rice which contain a good philosophy.
The Philosophy of A Humble Attitude of Rice
We can see that when rice is still in its early stages of forming grain, the rice stalks will stand up.
Meanwhile, if the rice has entered the mature stage and will be ready to be harvested, the rice stalks will begin to duck.
The bent rice stalk teaches us about maturity, wisdom, and the simplicity of life even though we have a lot of knowledge and wealth.
The more we are filled with knowledge and values, then we should be like ducking rice, to be humble, not upright that reflects pride.
Have Much Grace and Stay Wise
To succeed in life, we must have good wisdom. It will keep us "human" among the many dark parts of life.
When people are given a lot of gifts in their life, they are not always able to be humble. Sometimes their past grudges also make them use the gifts in their life to make things difficult for others. They don't want to be "rice" with a humble attitude. They just want to feel higher because they have everything.
Using Grace to Contribute to Life
Humans get many gifts such as wealth, social status, and so on, it is not always forever in our life. Those things are only temporary it seems this life has a time limit for death.
The stalk of the rice plant which contains many grains of rice teaches us to use the gifts in ourselves to help others.
We will never feel "alive" if we only focus on making ourselves happy when we already have a lot to share.
After all, sharing something kind with others doesn't have to wait for us to get rich, right? Helping to carry groceries for your neighbor is a good thing that leads to a harmonious and peaceful life.
So, the more “filled” we are, the wiser and humble we have to be.
