Waves and time have washed away the earth that these roots once called home
Hey Nature Lovers!
Today I wanted to share a few shots I took at the beach yesterday morning.
There's a handful of trees along the shore that look like the one I'm showcasing today. I assume they grew near the water's edge long ago, and as the water rose and sediment was washed away it created what we see here.
Amazingly, most of the trees like this are fairly healthy. This is one of my favorites, since the roots spread very wide. Even though it's not always a great thing for the plant, I still really like to see and appreciate naturally exposed roots.

One thing in particular that intrigues me when I see this, is the fact so much time has passed to create this sight.
Small compared to the life of the earth, but a significant period compared to our lives. I'm sure it took a few decades to develop into this. I mean the tree itself obviously took a while to grow.
I first saw this tree about 10 years ago, and during the summer. When I saw it the other day (10 years later, in winter) it really hit me how much more exposed the roots are. It looked pretty much the same back then, but with the water line being way back due to the season and time having passed I can see it progressing.
Who knows, I may see it till the end, or this tree may outlive me haha! Still, it's an interesting reminder of the passage of time.

What natural changes have you witnessed that caused you to ponder?
Though it can be almost scary to witness at times, I love seeing the world change slowly around me. I sometimes wonder when I look at a mountain range, even one relatively untouched by humans, if it really looked the same a few hundred years ago when locals gazed upon the skyline.
