For those that know my blog I have a love for orchids in our home, white mainly but pink is favorite aswell.
After fungus I had to throw them all out.
This is the new bunch. 4 branches with beautiful orchid harts.
And the tropical orchids are without a doubt among the most beautiful! Their incomparable colours, graceful and fantastic shapes, but also the size and variety cause amazement and admiration.
It is therefore no wonder that orchids are among the most popular houseplants. The enemy No. 1 for any orchid is the fungus.
I had that on three of ours. This leads to the death of the plant within a few weeks. Well it’s was 13 days and all were gone. With orchids that are cared for on the windowsill at home, this only happens for one reason: they get too much water and die. A lot is not always good. One tip , 1 icecube a week is enough.
Although some orchids come from the humid rainforest, they mostly live under trees. There they dry up quickly after a rain shower and for this reason have little flooding. So water in moderation. With a medium-sized pot, it is sufficient to water once a week in winter. In the summer you can do this twice a week, cause sun dries them out. Water droplets should never remain on the plant, as this leads to a rapid spread of fungi that can be recognized by the spots on the leaves.
Learned that now! To late!
But the new beauties are in the workplace here, and kitchen.
