Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today the little man was happy to finally catch a frog!
Fast Footed Froggie
There are many things that the little man gets really excited about, seeing and catching animals is absolutely one of them!
He's been on a kick lately where he is very determined to catch some frogs, he's always looking in rivers, brooks, along the edges of leaks and ponds and trying to figure out if he can see a frog and snatch it up. I don't really blame him though, because I have some fond memories as a kid myself in my uncles backyard snapping up some bullfrogs and having fun when we were victorious! This was one of his moments for sure!
One of the problems he has is that he gets so excited when he actually sees one that he ends up making a bunch of noise and movement before he even gets over to the frog lol and that ends up scaring the thing away. It works out for the frog for sure, I think, but not so much for him hahaha.
This time was different! Him and I were getting ready to go out fishing, we had just parked the car and unloaded it while he was roaming around playing in the grass and dirt before we were to walk over to the fishing spot. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a hop! He immediately went into predator mode hahaha and he jumped over at it! I helped him secure the little bugger and he was able to get his first legitimate wild frog catch!
Now I don't know how accurate he is with it, but he claims that this is a leopard frog. After giving it a quick web search, I think the dude is right! Lol source
I guess I should learn to trust him more. I think that's one of the things that I've read parents have an issue with, because in previous generations there was an attitude from parents that they knew all and kids shouldn't speak up. I think I've had some of that underlying subconscious bias in me sadly! He is such an avid nature fan that I think he might know more about a lot of these things at this point, he just absorbs the stuff right up! I think a future wildlife biologist on our hands or something I can say that lol.
He was really happy to catch this little fella, so much so that he kept him in his hand the whole walk along the path to the fishing spot and only when we got to the fishing spot that he put it down for a second did he lose it and get upset lol I felt bad but the frog was anxious to get the hell out of there! We were gentle with it though, which is great. I've seen some kids just man-handle the shit out of these things and end up hurting or killing it. Not the little man! He was gentle and caring for the thing, which was great. That's one thing I've taught him, is to be gentle and respectful to these animals. We wouldn't want to be hurt if someone did that to us, so he's a good dude in that regard!
I'm sure there will be many more of the frogs that he's going to catch this summer! He's a lot quicker than he was last year, so time will tell how many he gets!
