Taking nature photos has been a great way for me to relax recently. It’s also a great way to get some exercise so it’s like picking two mangos with one stone. On this particular day my mind was open and as soon I stepped on location I spotted an artistic sight of a snail on a leaf, but on top of that ( well beneath it actually😄), the plant the leaf was on, was growing from a rotting tree stub. Life does go on doesn't it?
To me nature is a great healer and teacher of life. From the everyday elements to the most advanced technologies, at the core of all this is mother nature. Planes fly in the sky because man saw how birds had wings. We heal our ailments from the natural medicines she provides, and how did man find out about these healing properties? My guess is they watched and learnt from the creatures of the land.
Many would just walk past this rotting stub not even realizing it was there. We tend to do this in life in general come to think of it, just imagine all the treasures around us in our everyday life we walk past? That person we never said hi too, the family member we ignore because of distractions, that store we didn't bother to check out, that opportunity we let slip by? Nature teaches us to slow down in this fast paced world and to me is the only true healer from an anxious mind that is common place in our society today. This photo reminds me that there is beauty all around us if we just look and see, there is always something to be grateful for in this life.
Another thing this photo and nature reminds me of is the importance of being alone at times to gather ones' thoughts and creativity. The snail was alone is its own world, and I was alone in mine. It is these times we can tap into the true essence of our soul and get grounded. It is these times the ideas that spark our spirit are planted.
For me, anytime there is something on my mind, something I am not clear about or even if I'm just not feeling it, nature always does the trick. This is why I have made it a habit to walk with mother nature each and everyday. This is where I feel in tune with the universe, this is where I feel in tune with myself.
