When I saw it I thought some nasty bug ate all the petals from daisies :p
But nope. This one is like that. Just a bunch of yellow balls on long stems.
Santolina rosmarinifolia
This evergreen bush is native to Mediterranean region and loves sunny spots. I found it growing wild in the field in quite dry place. It like fast draining soil and can handle long periods of draught.
It will grow up to 40 cm. The flowers appear in early April and it will keep blooming thought the summer until early September. The blooming peak is in June - it does love the heat doesn't it? There is usually not many plants in bloom around at that time.
This one was in the wild, but considering that it is easy to grow and doesn't need much maintenance, it can be used as ground cover in gardens. Especially in those very hot and dry spots where nothing else wants to grow (sounds a bit like my balcony :p)
