It is always a real pleasure to share with you, not only my photographs, but also the fruit of my research. In this opportunity I bring you the inflorescences of a plant, which surely if you have seen it you have overlooked it. It is the Beach Parsley or in scientific terms Philoxerus Vermicularis.

This herbaceous and creeping plant with succulent leaves, its branches can reach a maximum length of 15 cm. It is characterized because it lives in areas near the coast, whose soil is saline, so it is common to see it in the wild, here in Barcelona, Anzoátegui state.

Its beautiful and peculiar inflorescences, which can be seen in the photographs, are very small and measure between 1 and 2.5 cm high and 6 to 10 mm thick. As for the use of this plant, it is attributed diuretic properties, which can help in the deflation of the urinary tract.

Its habitat extends throughout the Antilles and the tropical areas of the American Continent, in addition to the coasts of West Africa. It is commonly known by several names, among them, “Perejil de Costa”; “Verdolaguilla Blanca”; “Perejil de la Tierra”; “Vicho de Cumaná”; Salt Weed; “Capotiraguá”.
