While on a trip down in South Carolina we were working remotely outside on the patio. When we went to open the umbrella we found a surprise guest lurking inside!
A tree frog !
I took her out and placed her in a nearby shaded, leafy tree with plenty of cover. Perhaps a more appropriate hiding place for a tree frog.
Doing a little research, we found out that this is a Squirrel Tree Frog (Hyla squirella) which is native to the southeastern United States. It was our first time ever seeing this species. It was a nice surprise during work hours.
