After the wife and I returned today from picking up dinner and other errands, we noticed some busy bee activity.
A very large wasp was hovering in and out of the garage which leads to our back patio. It was climbing up into a gap where the outside boards of the garage overlap.
A few honey bees in our back patio didn't seem to care much for the presence of the wasp. They showed their frustration by buzzing around in a furious fashion.
After a while, the wasp left and the bees settled down. I was able to get close enough to this guy without fear of enraging it again. They are rather fond of these purple Lily of the Nile flowers.
Shadows from the petals and the angle keep the bee from good view. I did manage to get the in air photo shot you see in the feature image. Here are a couple pics that also share a more vivid look.
I hadn't noticed until now, but look past the flower into the green bulb in the image below. What kind of lightning is taking place in there? It has to be my favorite pic of the bunch.
Before we left to run errands, and as an added bonus, I captured a still of this butterfly in flight.
Can you pic the butterfly out in the picture above? With my Android set to open the camera by a double click of the right side button, I'm ready for action shots. Let's zoom it in a ways!!!
That's about as far as this phone will zoom without completely ruining the image quality.
Hope you enjoyed today's small depiction of how amazing nature truly is.
Thanks for viewing and as always....
