Como parte de un tour por el estado M茅rida en Venezuela, no escap贸 a nuestra b煤squeda de sitios de inter茅s el Parque Zool贸gico Chorros de Milla. Nos hab铆amos enterado que, aparentemente, este lugar se encargaba de mantener a los animales en buen estado, conservando no s贸lo la vida de algunas especies en peligro de extinci贸n, sino contribuyendo en el aumento de sus poblaciones para luego insertarlos a su h谩bitat natural.

Algo que me pareci贸 muy bueno porque amo la naturaleza en todo su esplendor y eso implica ver los animales silvestres andar en su h谩bitat sin ning煤n tipo de limitaci贸n o peligro. Respeto a todos los seres vivos que se encuentran en nuestro planeta y muchas veces he tenido cierto recelo para visitar zool贸gicos, porque siento que los animalitos que se encuentran en cautiverio no son felices y debe ser terrible estar encerrado en cuatro paredes y no ser libre.
Animales de contacto.
Estas lindas tortugas Patas Rojas se encuentran en peligro de extinci贸n.
Venado camerudo en peligro de extinci贸n. Ellos viven en los llanos y en los andes venezolanos.
El c贸ndor. Esta ex贸tica ave que por cierto es una de las m谩s grandes del mundo est谩 pr谩cticamente extinta ac谩 en Venezuela, gracias a un programa que lleva el zool贸gico lo preservan para luego liberarlos en el P谩ramo de La Culata del Edo. M茅rida, Venezuela.

Cuando entramos al zool贸gico me sorprendi贸 ver que el lugar est谩 enmarcado en un ambiente poco intervenido por el hombre, las 谩reas donde se esparcen los animales son amplias, con mucha vegetaci贸n y como su nombre lo indica posee una serie de cascadas que bajan del r铆o Milla.

Se puede contemplar que es una vegetaci贸n de selva nublada.
Cascada Tibisay. Esta cascada tiene una leyenda, seg煤n dicen que son las l谩grimas de la princesa Tibisay llorando por su amado.
Sin embargo, a pesar de ver este espl茅ndido lugar, no puedo dejar de pensar en que a煤n existen zool贸gicos o recintos que encierran a los animales para mostrarlos al p煤blico. He reflexionado al respecto y me doy cuenta de que el ser humano no ha sido respetuoso con estos seres vivos, no hemos sabido convivir con ellos y lo peor es que hemos generado todas las causas por las cuales muchas especies se hayan extinguido o se encuentren pr贸ximas a estarlo.
Rey zamuro. Es un ave ex贸tica y se encuentra en la lista de animales en extinci贸n. Es carro帽ero, mon贸gamo y pueden vivir hasta 30 a帽os.
El tuc谩n es un ave con un gran pico y con colores llamativos. Bastante ex贸tica. Su alimentaci贸n es variada, comen frutos, verduras insectos y animales peque帽os. Lamentablemente entra en la lista de especies en peligro de extinci贸n
Oso de anteojos o tambi茅n llamado oso frontino. Viven en la Cordillera de Los Andes. Ellos comen frutos, insectos, reptiles entre otros. Se encuentra en la lista de especies en peligro de extinci贸n por deforestaci贸n y p茅rdida de su h谩bitat.
Mono capuchino. Este peque帽o primate se alimenta de huevos, insectos, frutas, semillas, lagartijas. Este peque帽o indefenso lo capturan para ser mascotas y lo alejan de su h谩bitat, se encuentran en peligro de extinci贸n.

El desarrollo demogr谩fico acaba con su h谩bitat diariamente y si te pones a pensar, llegas a la conclusi贸n de que es un intercambio muy injusto. Destruyes un h谩bitat donde conviven muchas especies no s贸lo de animales, sino tambi茅n vegetales, para crear grandes edificios o centros comerciales para el disfrute del hombre. La caza indiscriminada apoyada por un comercio inescrupuloso mata animales muchas veces s贸lo por diversi贸n como los safaris o s贸lo para obtener partes del cuerpo de estos indefensos seres vivos. Si no preg煤ntenle a los tiburones cazados s贸lo por sus aletas o los elefantes s贸lo por sus colmillos. Otra causa es el mercado negro donde se comercializan a estos seres indefensos para llevarlos a un encierro total s贸lo para el disfrute privado de algunos pocos.
El cunaguaro. Es un felino y su alimentaci贸n es carn铆vora. Ac谩 en Venezuela se encuentran en los llanos. Es una especie declarada en peligro extinci贸n
Babuino sagrado. Su alimentaci贸n es omn铆vora y tambi茅n comen plantas. Ellos viven en Egipto, Sud谩n, Eritrea, Etiop铆a. No se encuentran en el listado de especies de peligro de extinci贸n.

Indirectamente tambi茅n hemos sido los culpables del efecto invernadero y el da帽o constante que le propinamos a nuestro planeta y, lo peor de todo, es que es el 煤nico planeta donde vivimos. Hace falta mucho para poder colonizar otro. Debemos pensarlo, as铆 como estos animales se extinguen, nosotros tambi茅n podemos hacerlo alg煤n d铆a si esto no para. En pocas palabras, la muerte de nuestro planeta es culpa del hombre.
El rey de la selva. El le贸n no se escapa de esta lista por la caza descontrolada.
El jaguar se puede encontrar en los llanos venezolanos. Son carn铆voros. Se encuentra en peligro de extinci贸n por la destrucci贸n de su h谩bitat.
Apoyo y aplaudo los lugares que se encargan de preservar, cuidar e insertar de nuevo estos animales a su h谩bitat de manera exitosa. Debemos tomar conciencia de cuidar nuestro planeta porque es el 煤nico que tenemos.

As part of a tour of the Merida state in Venezuela, the Chorros de Milla Zoo did not escape our search for places of interest. We had heard that, apparently, this place was in charge of keeping the animals in good condition, not only preserving the life of some endangered species, but also contributing to the increase of their populations and then inserting them into their natural habitat.

Something that I found very good because I love nature in all its splendor and that implies seeing wild animals in their habitat without any kind of limitation or danger. I respect all the living beings that are in our planet and many times I have had some misgivings about visiting zoos, because I feel that the animals that are in captivity are not happy and it must be terrible to be locked up in four walls and not be free.
Contact animals.
These beautiful red-footed tortoises are in danger of extinction.
Endangered camerudo deer. They live in the Venezuelan plains and the Venezuelan Andes.
The condor. This exotic bird, which by the way is one of the largest in the world, is practically extinct here in Venezuela, thanks to a program carried out by the zoo, it is preserved and then released in the P谩ramo de La Culata in the Merida state, Venezuela.

When we entered the zoo I was surprised to see that the place is framed in an environment little intervened by man, the areas where the animals are scattered are spacious, with lots of vegetation and as its name suggests it has a series of waterfalls that come down from the Milla River.

It can be seen that it is a cloud forest vegetation.
Tibisay Waterfall. This waterfall has a legend, according to what is said to be the tears of princess Tibisay crying for her beloved.
However, in spite of seeing this splendid place, I cannot help thinking that there are still zoos or enclosures that confine animals to show them to the public. I have reflected on this and I realize that human beings have not been respectful with these living beings, we have not known how to coexist with them and the worst thing is that we have generated all the causes for which many species have become extinct or are close to extinction.
Zamuro King. It is an exotic bird and is on the list of endangered animals. It is a scavenger, monogamous and can live up to 30 years.
The toucan is a bird with a large beak and bright colors. Quite exotic. Its diet is varied, they eat fruits, vegetables, insects and small animals. Unfortunately it is on the endangered species list.
Spectacled Bear or also called Frontino Bear. They live in the Andes Mountains. They eat fruits, insects, reptiles among others. It is on the endangered species list due to deforestation and habitat loss.
Capuchin monkey. This small primate feeds on eggs, insects, fruits, seeds and lizards. This defenseless little one is captured to be pets and taken away from its habitat, they are in danger of extinction.

Demographic development destroys their habitat on a daily basis and if you think about it, you come to the conclusion that it is a very unfair exchange. You destroy a habitat where many species coexist, not only animals but also plants, to create large buildings or shopping malls for the enjoyment of man. Indiscriminate hunting supported by an unscrupulous trade kills animals many times just for fun like safaris or just to obtain body parts from these defenseless living beings. If not, ask sharks hunted only for their fins or elephants only for their tusks. Another cause is the black market where these defenseless beings are traded to bring them to total confinement only for the private enjoyment of a few.
The cunaguaro. It is a feline and its diet is carnivorous. Here in Venezuela they are found in the plains. It is a species declared in danger of extinction.
Sacred baboon. Their diet is omnivorous and they also eat plants. They live in Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia. They are not listed as endangered species.

Indirectly we have also been guilty of the greenhouse effect and the constant damage we inflict on our planet and, worst of all, it is the only planet where we live. It will take a lot to colonize another one. We must think about it, just as these animals are becoming extinct, we may also become extinct someday if this does not stop. In short, the death of our planet is man's fault.
The king of the jungle. The lion does not escape from this list because of uncontrolled hunting.
The jaguar can be found in the Venezuelan plains. They are carnivores. It is in danger of extinction due to the destruction of its habitat.
I support and applaud the places that are in charge of preserving, caring for and successfully inserting these animals back into their habitat. We must be aware of taking care of our planet because it is the only one we have.
