It was a morning where the weather forecast had said better not to go by bicycle because there would be some really big showers passing by. As most Dutchies tend to ignore these kinds of reports and just bike around like there is no tomorrow, I really hate biking in the rain.
Not the biking itself (okay maybe the biking itself as well) but mostly the part where your pants get wet and start sticking to your legs and the the rain feels like it is glass shatters into your face.
You might say I'm not really a big fan of rain and biking.
But the forecast was right and this clouds were showers indeed but also with really blue sky in the background. And showered rain and blue skies in the back means rainbows! We don't get a lot of them in the inland, so when they are there and so clear...that is really something else.
Even a full circeled one on both sides is more rare here as in the city you don't have a chance to see the entire picture because of trees and buildings.
It is hilarious sometimes to realize how depedent we have gotten on the radars of what the rain is doing versus looking outside and making a decision based on that. But one the other hand....I used to get home soaked way more than I would like and that is done these days.
Especially in the mornings when you start your day of well being all fresh and ready to rumble (the yoga talks about starting the day off with good intentions), well if I end up at work with water dripping from my socks, then the intentions are a lot more different these days. Combine that with my not already so jollyfull mood in the morning, and I guess we are all happy there are weather radars to use by me to be less grumpy.
When living at the ocean back in the days on a mountain the amount of rainbows was entirely different. Because you could see the clouds hanging in the distance miles away and we are also able to see if it was a big or a small cloud, you would just act on it. No radars there. You didn't use them, but also these clouds were so scattered that it also would not work at all as the clouds are so small.
I would know when a clouds was before the mountain it was time to start acting and that you have like a minute and a half left before it would start to pour. Nice knowing!
I think the pot of gold randomly ended up here in this building. Maybe the ones inside are the lucky ones
Here is it different. We can not complain at all with this late summer weather that has been here the last month and I absolutely love it! Getting free rainbows as a side effect with that..that is only bonus!
