Lilacs - Syringa vulgaris
When I was younger, I paid little attention to lilacs. Now I really appreciate this perennial in our garden. It simply appeals to all the senses, with its soft purple colored flowers and beguiling fragrance. The Lilacs blossom seems like the link between spring and summer. Spring is almost over and summer is already waiting in the wings. It is getting warmer by the day and the sun makes the purple flowers shine in many different shades.
Many of our neighbors have surrounded their gardens with gray plastic fences. Shrubs seem to make too much work for them, so they had to give way to modern-looking rock gardens.
This I can not understand at the sight of our lilac. Our privacy screen consists of shrubs and perennials and we enjoy it every day again. Nature brings forth such beautiful things and amazes us again and again. It's a shame that many people have somehow lost sight of it. To appreciate nature and thus every plant could have prevented many problems. But most people are only concerned with convenience and straightforwardness. For plants there is often no place.
These are the thoughts that go through my head every day when I admire our beautiful plants and today especially the gorgeous lilac. Why don't all people feel more appreciation for the plants that nature gives us?
Depending on the sunlight, the flowers shine sometimes rose sometimes purple. A wonderful play of colors.
The medicinal significance of Lilac:
Lilac is mostly used as an ornamental shrub, but also finds its use in natural medicine. For this purpose, a tea is made from the flowers, which is supposed to support digestion or help against fever. From the dried flowers can be made oil extract, which can be used for rheumatism.
