It seems that this pandemic is not getting any better but worst the last time, I traveled overseas was just over 4 years as, which I noticed while going through my archive and even if you wanted to go overseas now with the very limited flights, it would cost you a arm and a leg and that's without even going through all the red tape so seems we are left we no choice but to stay home at the moment but at least, I can still look back at my memories of my last overseas travel from 4 years ago and am very privileged and thankful that, I had the opportunity to see these beautiful parts of the world before it got shut down.
This last vacation which was 4 years ago, I visited my cousin in Danville Town, California, which was one of my highlights in my travels, I spend a total of six months with my cousin and his wife traveling to many states around America and here, I like to show you some of the most beautiful lakes within America, this first lake we visited was Emerald Bay, about 12 miles south of Lake Tahoe, California, this beautiful nature landmark has the most stunning panorama views, mountains of glacier carved granite, with spectacular, dramatic alpine peaks and ridges. There are a few camping grounds and a boat-camp, Emerald Bay could only be reached by foot, kayaking or private boats coming into the bay, there was no vehicle access which preserved the natural beauty of this wonderland and wilderness. Definitely a hikers paradise.
I was amazed to see this beautiful 38 room Castle at the head of Emerald Bay, this castle called the Vikingsholm Castle was built in 1929 by a designed by Swedish architect called Lennart Palme, him as his wife use to entertain there guests in the summer months with a staff of 15, today the Vikingsholm Castle, is owned by the Emerald Bay State Park.
We then we visited the Wrights Lake which is in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, there we camped by this clean blue lake to say the least it was just breathtaking to be there by that lake with a little camp fire with the countless stars in the night sky and the aroma of the surrounding pine and cedar trees, it was just so surreal.
Wrights Lake in Eldorado National Forest, California, is a most beautiful, situated in the Crystal Basin area of Eldorado National Forest, with great camping grounds you can do kayaking, boating, fishing and has some of the most beautiful hiking grounds, were you will see wildlife and many species of birds and you are nestled in amongst the most amazing nature with many wildflowers depending in what season you may be there.
And there was the Cabin by the American River, another sensational getaway this American River, also in California runs for 30 miles long coming from the Sierra Nevada mountain range, a cool fresh water river so clean that you can drink this river water.
There are many activities to be had on this river like whitewater rafting, kayaking, fishing and great hiking trails along the river we came here to just relax a bit after all the other major hikes at the other national parks and lakes we had previously been but mind you we still did a little bit of hiking along this amazing river but we mainly relaxed enjoyed the beauty of nature around us listening to the flow of the river and the birds singing in the mornings. Just hope, I can do this all again soon.
