Peace, silence, meditation, enjoyment, relaxation, the beauty of nature, distant horizons, cities in the palm of your hand, winding rivers, a wonderful feeling when you are a few steps away from the clouds. I enjoy nature, especially hiking, and that fantastic feeling when you’re on top and enjoying the view. There is all the beauty, around you and in you, as a stress reliever. There, on the top, time stops, and we all need that moment, that time for us and that feeling when the horizons around you, expand your personal horizons. Time is what we miss the most, time for such precious moments, time that life in the city ruthlessly steals from us. The time we will dedicate to ourselves, our body, and our thoughts.
And here I am, on top of Mount Kablar, a not-so-high mountain, just under 900m above sea level. In front of this mountain is a slightly higher, but gentler and less steep mountain Ovčar. Between them, the river Zapadna Morava formed a picturesque and interesting gorge. What is even more interesting are precisely these meanders that meander in a wide arc.
There are several types of meanders, which of course you don't have to know 😊, but I always like to know how something in nature came about. This long and slow process, insensitive to short human life, is especially interesting to me.
These meanders in the rock are called incised meanders. Namely, these beautiful meanders were created by the vertical erosion of the river Zapadna Morava and are a classic example of an epigenetic valley. They are stuck in the rocks. Namely, the river used to flow and form meanders at a higher level, but due to the increased vertical erosion, it continued to cut meanders into firmer rocks. The most famous example of these meanders is the meanders of the Colorado River.
And this is the neighboring wooded Ovčar. Between these two mountains is the Ovčarsko Kablarska gorge. This part is also known as the Serbian Holy Mountain because there are 10 monasteries on the slopes of these two mountains. Here's one ...
There are several trails to the top of Kablar, of varying difficulty. I thought we chose the hardest, but ...:) The sight of that climber comforted me :)
The view from above, of the green space and the shadows of the clouds, is an amazing experience.
When we are high up, everything looks very small. Our glories and our sadnesses cease to be important. We have left whatever we won or lost down below. From the top of a mountain, you can see how large the world is and how wide the horizon.

When seen up close, dangers are controllable: when you begin to climb the mountain of your dreams, pay attention to the surroundings. There are cliffs, of course. There are almost imperceptible cracks in the mountain rock. There are stones so polished by storms that they have become as slippery as ice. But if you know where you are placing each footstep, you will notice the traps and how to get around them.

In the end, dear friends, use your time the best you can, with dear people and in beautiful places, like these in nature. I hope you enjoyed my view from above!
With love,

I hope you liked my story, written for Amazing Nature Contest: Thematic Challenge - #4/4/21 and a wonderful topic this week "View from above"!
