Happy Moments....
Indeed, this moment was unexpected... after 24 years of growing or shall we say stagnation, this plant bloomed for the first time. What a miracle I thought and I have been so astonished! The mother plant started way back in 1984 when we were in the other flat. I have heard so many stories about this type of lily and that if they do not like the area where they are placed , they are like in frenzy mood and will not grow any buds. They always face the light and I did not really know where else to place them.
No blooms but thankful for the suckers....
I used to know its name since the mother plant had been a gift from hubby´s mom. We were expats in the 80´s and since we were not at home, the mother plant somehow began to deteriorate although they were watered and given feed during the time we were not at home. Some suckers came out of the soil of the mother plant and no matter how small they were, they grew and they have survived ....these were those two suckers. My mom-in law replanted them in a pot of soil and gave back the same to me. Later, I replanted them in a bigger pot. Decades passed, both never bloomed , not even one time.
Then came the buds....
Last Spring was different, in January at the height of winter... I saw the first clusters of buds popping out from its center. They really do not need so much water although in the last winter months I always watered them with mineral water. And aside from that, they were given feed in form of sticks. Then, two weeks ago , they began blooming again. What a wonderful feeling to see them flower this year after 24 years of stagnation.
The flowers reflects good feeling and adorns the room nicely. I still can´t believe my luck .... Now I have reasons to wait for the next buds, after all it´s Summer and who knows a miracle could happen anytime again soon!
