Apart from its beauty, it has a pestilential and intense smell, similar to that of a dead animal or cloaca, therefore it guarantees the survival of the plant since it attracts its main pollinator, blue flies and other insects that are attracted by that unique smell but are deceived by the plant already after they leave their eggs so that their larvae hatch and begin to feed on the meat. However, after being born, the larvae or worms die shortly after being born because they have nothing to eat and the fly carries the pollen to another flower.
Although it has characteristics that can be unpleasant for many people, it is a plant that marvels for its peculiar way of pollination, in addition to the rare and original beauty of its flower. They are very easy to maintain in the garden but it needs some essential care so that it can flourish and not die, such as a sunny place and continuous watering in the hottest times. Cuando hablo del encanto y las sorpresas de una flor, me refiero a esta linda suculenta llamada la estrella de las moscas o flor de carroña, es porque esta planta da una hermosa y extraña flor en forma de estrella de mar por sus 5 pétalos y son algo peludos. Su atractivo color amarillo-crema con betas rojas a primera vista parecen negras y sus flores suelen ser solitarias o extrañas, su tamaño es uno de los más grandes de su tipo. Aparte de su belleza, tiene un olor pestilente e intenso, similar al de un animal muerto o cloaca, por lo que garantiza la supervivencia de la planta ya que atrae a su principal polinizador, moscas azules y otros insectos que son atraídos por ese olor único. pero son engañados por la planta ya después de que dejan sus huevos para que sus larvas eclosionen y comiencen a alimentarse de la carne.
