Hello friends, I was surprised to see this plant in the garden of this government office. I never pass by here, because this is the premises behind the office. I went near it, and I got confirmation that this is the same plant.
It is a multi-medicine plant; in our village, it is called "Adulsa," and in Hindi, it is called "Vasa.". I know this, but when I asked Google Maharaj, I came to know that it is called "Malabar Nut" in English. Friends, I can never forget this plant. Because many of my childhood memories are associated with it. Friends, Adulsa is found in many places in India. This medicinal plant is the medicine of the poor in the village. It cures all types of coughs, colds, and sore throats and strengthens the immune system. It has many other benefits. Friends, all this is fine, but it is very bitter. That is why I said its memories are still fresh. When we were small, our parents in the village used to make us drink the juice of its leaves whenever we had a cough. The cough would go away with one cup.
But its taste is still on my tongue. It is very bitter; hardly any medicine is as bitter as this. If we refused to drink it, we were forced to drink it. At that time, I don't remember ever going to a doctor for a cough. It was a very effective remedy at that time. But very bitter. Even sheep and goats do not eat it. That is why, in our village, it is planted on the sides of the fields. So that the fields are protected from sheep and goats. This plant is four to five feet tall. Its great importance is mentioned in Ayurveda. Even today, it is used in many medicines. Its ready-made decoction is easily available in Ayurvedic medicine here. Runny noses, stomach-related diseases, and many other minor diseases are cured by it. Friends, I don't know how it must have grown here; maybe its seed must have come into the soil.
Whatever it is, I took some pictures of it, and my childhood memories were awakened. Whatever it is, nature takes great care of us, so we should take care of it. Thank you, friends.
