Amigos de Amazing Nature, la verdad es que cada vez me impresiona más el regalo que día tras día, estación tras estación, nos hace la naturaleza. A veces inmerecido, porque en algunos lugares, no se protege ni conserva, como es el deber ser, sabiendo que nuestras vidas están en riesgo y dependen de las acciones que nosotros mismos tomemos para mantener nuestro entorno en perfectas condiciones, con el fin de dejarlo tal cual, a las nuevas generaciones.

A continuación paso a explicarles, mi reencuentro con esta hermosa planta, llamada Chiflera en el argot popular en mi país, Venezuela.
Mi abuelita no se equivocó cuando me dijo que esa planta tenía ese nombre. Generalmente, al oír la pronunciación, así se escucha, y si vemos el nombre real, queda demostrada la similitud.
El nombre real es Schefflera y el nombre técnico es Heptapleurum Arboricola, pues les diré que yo conocía la flor que da la misma, pero era una de color vino tinto, y la usábamos como planta para interiores. En el jardín del edificio donde yo vivía, tenían una que se desarrolló de tal manera, que las bayas eran hermosas y de color vino. La flor era todo un espectáculo similares a varios cepillos finos y voluptuosos a la vez.
I will now explain my encounter with this beautiful plant, called Chiflera in the popular slang in my country, Venezuela.
My grandmother was not mistaken when she told me that this plant had that name. Generally, when you hear the pronunciation, that is how it sounds, and if we see the real name, the similarity is demonstrated. The real name is Schefflera and the technical name is Heptapleurum Arboricola,
I tell you that I knew the flower that gives the same, but it was a red wine color, and we used it as an indoor plant. In the garden of the building where I lived, they had one that developed in such a way that the berries were beautiful and wine-colored. The flower was quite a spectacle similar to several fine and voluptuous brushes at once.
La Schefflera, es originaria de Taiwán, esta planta, también le decimos la flor paraguas, pues sus hojas son similares y luego sus frutos son unas bayas redondas y de color intenso como la que ven en mis fotos. Estas fotos las capturé en un polideportivo que queda cerca de mi casa en Avellaneda, Buenos Aires.
Está, en estos momentos, desarrollada y llena de frutos, eso hace que ese espacio se vista de gala, de tanta hermosura. Ahora mismo estamos en verano, ella florece en invierno y otoño. Se recomienda podarla en pleno verano.
Aunque este hermoso ejemplar no hará falta podarlo, pues está en todo su esplendor. Para poder mantener una de estas Scheffleras en sus hogares, deben mantenerlas húmedas pero no en exceso. Colocarlas en un lugar donde reciba mucha luz solar. Mantener sus hojas limpias y bien cuidadas, yo las limpiaba con un paño húmedo y les rociaba un poco de agua con clara de huevo, para darle brillo.
Se puede reproducir por estaca y también por semillas. El nombre de Schefflera, es en honor al botánico alemán, Jacob Christian Scheffle, quien vivió en el siglo XVIII.
The Schefflera is native to Taiwan, this plant, we also call it the umbrella flower, because its leaves are similar and then its fruits are round and intense colored berries like the one you see in my photos. These photos were taken in a sports center near my house in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires.
It is, at this moment, developed and full of fruits, that makes that space dresses up, with so much beauty. Right now we are in summer, it blooms in winter and autumn. It is recommended to prune it in midsummer.
Although this beautiful specimen will not need pruning, because it is in all its splendor. In order to keep one of these Scheffleras in your home, you should keep them humid but not excessively. Place them in a place where they receive plenty of sunlight. Keep their leaves clean and well cared for, I used to wipe them with a damp cloth and sprinkle a little water with egg white to give them a shine.
It can be reproduced by cuttings and also by seeds. The name Schefflera, is in honor of the German botanist, Jacob Christian Scheffle, who lived in the 18th century.

La Schefflera. Debe ser protegida de los pulgones y cochinilla, son la plaga que la destruye. Se recomienda pasar un algodón con alcohol para evitar que la ataquen los insectos. Cambiarla de lugar en casa, para evitar que se seque de un solo lado, o que no le penetren los rayos del sol. Se debe podar cuando sea realmente necesario.
La Schefflera, puede alcanzar unos dos a tres metros de altura.
Existen muchas variedades. Entre ellas destacan: La de hojas matizadas, La de hojas verdes (Es la que yo tenía en casa) y la Schefflera Yanini que no llegan a alcanzar ni la mitad de la altura de las otras.
Este fue un resumen acerca de la especie que les presento. La SChiflera, es una planta que siempre me gustó para decorar mi apartamento. Por ello, la recomiendo para interiores y jardines. Ella es fiel y duradera o perenne, siempre y cuando se le den los cuidados requeridos.
