A Dragonfly time!

This is a Red-veined Dropwing (Trithemis arteriosa) female in our garden today!

I bring you a variety of dragonflies today with beautiful colors!

Now I don't know if you have ever seen a Wasp Robber Fly having lunch, but there is also a photo of one in here.
Summer here now and the place is alive with all of the smaller wonders of nature for us to enjoy. Except for the mosquitos of course, as I have never heard of anyone that likes them.
Come and have a look.

Her hunting spot was on the tip of an aloe plant in the center of the garden.

I moved around behind her to get a white wall in the background and it seemed to work well

Here we have what looks like a type of a Cascader, but I cannot be sure!

This beauty looks like an Elusive Skimmer (Orthetrum rubens) and they are endemic to the Cape!

Another new one here and I think it a Navy Dropwing (Trithemis furva) female!

Here we have what I think is the "Rock Hooktail (Paragomphus cognatus)!

A Wasp Robber Fly (Pegesimallus pulchriventris) here eating an insect!

And finally just the Red-veined Dropwing again in a different location!

I bought a small, used Canon Powershot SX450 camera in 2002 in order to take photos of our charity work for fundraising purposes. Being a nature lover I also started taking photos of nature, but most of the photos of flying birds were not too good.
A good friend suggested that I should start to snap dragonflies, as if I could get the small stuff, the bird photography would become easier.
He was right of course, and every now and then, I keep my eye in with dragonfly photos, such as these today in this post!
