A very busy rainy morning here in our garden.
We awoke to a steady soft downpour of rain this morning, but it was not strong enough to spoil the planned party of the doves and the squirrels.
Something else spoiled their party that I will show you lower down, but first let's have a look at the party. Their music was the rhythmic sound of raindrops hitting the stones and everyone was doing their own thing. One squirrel also misbehaved and the bouncer chased him away as you will soon see.
So Let's have a look.
A wet morning but the party was on the go.
The stones were the boundaries of the party and the one squirrel was going out of bounds.
So the squirrel bouncer had to chase him away.
The Ringneck dove couple were in the sauna during the rain. (Streptopelia semitorquata)
And yes, everyone was enjoying the party.
And then a sudden stop to the party!
Just like that as Harry and Sally arrived and the party guests scattered.
Sally was first and Marian had to rush to put their bucket and food out.
After she had eaten, her habit is to jump onto the birdbath.
So while she was bathing Harry took over the eating part.
And after Harry was done it was time for the geese to leave.
Finally as if on cue, the cleaning crew arrived and the party was over.
So in my imagination there was a big party in the garden this morning. Even if it rains, the birds and the squirrels have to eat and it is always a pleasure for us to feed them. We are not taking over the job of nature, as many times we are not here and then they have to feed themselves with nature's supplies. We don't want to create dependence as that would be cruel, and over time they seem to have accepted our staggered feeding offers.
We are so glad that a court case has interdicted the trophy hunting rules as we simply cannot understand how 10 rhinos can be offered to trophy hunters. The rhinos are being poached in South Africa and their numbers are dwindling. So too were the leopards and lions, and imagine 150 elephants being allocated for trophy hunting.
The excuse offered is that trophy hunting is a very expensive game and it brings much income into the country, sadly at the animal's expense.
Just my own thoughts.
And That's All Friends.
