As the Spring Equinox soon approaches, there are signs that come before the the date. This year Spring will officially arrive on March 20 2021, and will end June 19 2021. During this time the earth becomes alive again the seeds that lay dormant over the winter began to warm up as the days begin to get longer and the temperatures start to rise. A new life cycle begins as insects and animals come out of hibernation and begin to stir.
This morning as I was beginning my thoughts on Spring I was assured by that St.Louis was in the Northern Hemisphere and I was correct in thinking this. I often speak out loud to myself as I work through my thought process before I write it down, and thank goodness I had
to help me out😂.
Back to Spring, it also can refer to ideas such as rebirth, renewal, rejuvenation regrowth, a resurrection of death to life, as seeds break forth from the ground to welcome new life.
As the migratory birds begin to move toward their summer destinations, you can feel a shift begin, an awareness of the change. It is the beginning of mating season and nest building, the males whose colors became dull during the winter seasons are starting to brighten up as Spring quickly approaches. The males begin their songs to attract the female and the coy female plays hard to get as she readies the nest
Probably one of the most tell tale sign of Spring for me is the Robin, although it is not a migratory bird in Missouri during the winter they move farther south of St.Louis, so when I see the males coming by to say hi I know warmer weather is here to stay. This Robin has been hanging around my house now for the last week and is a friendly little guy always stopping to chat while I'm sitting out on the porch with a cup of coffee. This is definitely a male Robin, you can tell by his dark head and brick red chest, the female has a grey head and dull red chest.
In my backyard my giant Maple tree is arousing, her buds have come forth with great beauty. Soon she will have leaves showing forth and her seeds will start to grow so she can send them forth and multiple. My grand old oak tree who stands true and tall will wake up in a short while, and when he does it will be in grand fashion, for now we will just marvel at the Maple in her fullness and beauty.
