Inicios de la Educación Ambiental en Venezuela
Antes de 1972 se enseñaba: Ecología o Conservación de Recursos Naturales, sólo en las carreras biológicas, geográficas, agronómicas y veterinarias.
Año 1976: Se promulga la Ley Orgánica del Ambiente
1977 : Se crea el Ministerio del Ambiente y de los Recursos Naturales Renovables (MARNR) con su Dirección General de Educación Ambiental
1980: Primer Convenio Ministerio del Ambiente – Ministerio de Educación para “…el desarrollo de la Educación Ambiental en el Sistema de Educación Formal en Venezuela.…”
1985 Con la reforma de la Educación Básica se incorpora la Dimensión Ambiental en cada una de las áreas y asignaturas del Plan de Estudios de la I, II y III etapas
1987 Primer Encuentro Nacional sobre Educación Superior y Ambiente en la Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV)
A partir de estos encuentros, se han establecido Programas de Educación Ambiental en las Universidades tanto a nivel de investigación, extensión intra y extra universitaria, así como asignaturas en todas las carreras.

Beginnings of Environmental Education in Venezuela
Before 1972, it was taught: Ecology or Conservation of Natural Resources, only in biological, geographic, agronomic and veterinary careers.
Year 1976: The Organic Law of the Environment is enacted
1977 : The Ministry of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (MARNR) is created with its General Directorate of Environmental Education
1980: First Agreement between the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Education for “…the development of Environmental Education in the Formal Education System in Venezuela…”
1985 With the reform of Basic Education, the Environmental Dimension is incorporated in each of the areas and subjects of the Study Plan of the I, II and III stages
1987 First National Meeting on Higher Education and Environment at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV)
From these meetings, Environmental Education Programs have been established in the Universities both at the level of research, intra- and extra-university extension, as well as subjects in all careers.
