This is my thematic challenge in the #amazingnature challenge by
This is one of my favorite images. It was a cool, misty morning when we were ready to drive away from the resort we were staying in during one of our road trips, I noticed this tree a little off from the exit gate. I stopped the car, made a quick dash across the grass and quickly grabbed some pictures before we drove off further to our destination.
This huge tree has a deep cut like a ravine down its trunk, it has not only survived the damage but it has also healed itself and become host to some beautiful vegetation all through its trunk right up to the top.
There was moss growing abundantly on it, various kinds of epiphytes and best of all it hosted a colocasia type of plant grown from tuber. I guess that someone tossed the tuber in playfully or the gardener accidentally dropped the tuber in while working around the place.
I don't see any other animals or birds doing this as this tuber is not edible. I love the heart shape leaf cradled in the huge trunk. The contrast between the rugged and the delicate took my breath away.
Various epiphytes, mainly orchid growing on the top of this tree. I found this tree on a trekking trip deep in the woods.
This tree looked so wacky and I had to take a picture of this. I found this tree in the middle of my city. It has a huge jungle fig sapling growing inside its trunk, this is the work of birds. They love the fruits of this wild fig and from their poop you will find these little trees growing.
The variegated English ivy seems to have taken over this tree and a couple of those nearby as well. Ivy is not part of the local flora so it is quite possible that the park gardener trained the ivy up on this tree and now it has taken over the area completely.
I just love the way it looks as it catches the light from the morning sun.
I would like my first image to be considered for the contest.
