On the balcony of my apartment, I have some ornamental plants, such as a Millionaire, Purple Shamrocks, Jade, and other plants whose name I can't remember. I have also taken on the task of planting chives, garlic and chili peppers, which by the way is already bearing fruit.
But today I want to talk about my favorite plant, my "Novio" as it is called in Venezuela, but it is really known as "Geranium". This plant gives off an exquisite fragrance from its velvety leaves and exists in a great variety of colors, there are red, fuscia, pink and even orange, but I have one with white flowers.
I have taken the photo of my plant on the balcony, by the way today it is raining and the day is cloudy. It is a small plant, but with much excitement I see that it has a bud, from which a beautiful bouquet of white flowers will be born. It is the only one on the plant and the first leaf is already beginning to emerge from the flower.
As a result of this challenge I decided to find out about its properties and I found out that the cosmetology industry uses the essential oil of the Geranium or of the Bridegroom as we call it in Venezuela, for body care. It is used as an astringent, cleanser and tonic. According to what I read it helps to keep the skin hydrated and prevents the appearance of wrinkles. Interesting what we learn about mother earth and her children.

En el balcón de mi apartamento, tengo algunas plantas ornamentales, como una Millonaria, Tréboles morados, Jade, y otras plantas cuyo nombre no recuerdo. También me he dado a la tarea de sembrar cebollín, ajo porro y ají, que por cierto ya está dando sus frutos.
Pero hoy les quiero hablar de mi planta favorita, mi “Novio” como le llaman en Venezuela, pero realmente es conocido como “Geranio”. Esta planta expide una exquisita fragancia de sus aterciopeladas hojas y existe en una gran variedad de colores, las hay rojas, fuscias, rosadas y hasta naranjas, pero yo tengo una de flores blancas.
He tomado la foto de mi planta en el balcón, por cierto hoy está lloviendo y el día está nublado. Es una planta pequeña, pero con mucha emoción veo que tiene un brote, de donde nacerá un hermoso ramillete de flores blancas. Es el único que tiene la planta y ya está comenzado a salir la primera hoja de la flor.
A raíz de este challenge me di a la tarea de averiguar sus propiedades y me he enterado que la industria de la cosmetología utiliza el aceite escencial del Geranio o del Novio como lo llamamos en Venezuela, para el cuidado corporal. Es usado como astringente, limpiador y tónico. Según lo que leí ayuda a conservar la piel hidratada y evita la aparición de arrugas. Interesante lo que aprendemos de la madre tierra y sus hijos.
