Despite the fact that water is essential for plants to grow and survive, they react immediately in an aversive way when they get wet.
This is due to the fact that humidity is the best way for diseases, fungi and bacteria to reproduce. So the longer the leaves of a plant are wet, the more likely they are to contract a disease.
When a raindrop falls on the leaf of a plant, it bounces in all directions, and if the plant in question is carrying a disease, it will spread. Thus, with the 'preparation' of the vegetation for a rainy episode, what we try to avoid is precisely that: to be infected.
Having my garden has led me to learn more about plants, it is a living being that feels and suffers, I am now more careful to keep them healthy.
