The West Zone of Rio de Janeiro seems like a city apart. For many tourists, Rio de Janeiro boils down to the South Zone and the Center.
Today I want to show you to Barra e Recreio Beaches sharing some photos I took one afternoon waking over there.
Spend afternoon at Barra da Tijuca Beach | Rio de Janeiro
After our Morning at Jockey Club, we will take the rest of the day to relax on a beautiful beach.
Much less crowded than the beaches in the south and center, such as our famous Copacabana, but still well known and visited by the locals. Even more over the weekend.
This region has many hotels and restaurants, as well as spaces for events in addition to many reserved areas, skate parks, parks, lakes and stunning places that make you forget that you are in a big city.
With the beaches with a much less urban face than Ipanema and Copacabana and more like a beach outside the big centers.
Getting there from the center is not such an easy task. Public transport is still not that good and taxi can be expensive. Even if you are driving, the journey can be lengthy due to traffic.
In addition to the beautiful beaches, the West Zone has other very cool attractions. It has trails, museums, restaurants, bars, event venues, a kiosk by the sea, shopping and a lively nightlife.
We spent an afternoon walking, taking some pictures and mostly relaxing on the sand. Just the way we like it.
We took the opportunity to eat there and returned to our hotel.

Passe a tarde na Praia da Barra da Tijuca | Rio de Janeiro
A Zona Oeste do Rio de Janeiro parece uma cidade à parte. Para muitos dos turistas, o Rio de Janeiro se resume à Zona Sul e ao Centro.
Hoje quero apresentar para vocês a praia da Barra e Recreio com algumas fotos que tirei em uma tarde por lá.
Após nosso passeio pela manhã ao Jockey Club, vamos passar resto do dia relaxando em uma praia linda.
Muito menos lotada que as praias da zonas Sul e centro, como nossa famosa Copacabana, mas mesmo assim bem conhecia e visitada pelos locais. Ainda mais de final de semana.
Essa região tem muitos hotéis e restaurantes, além de espaços pra eventos alem de muitas áreas reservadas, pistas de skate, parques lagos e lugares deslumbrantes que faz você esquecer que está em uma cidade grande.
Com as praias com uma cara bem menos urbana que Ipanema e Copacabana e mais parecida como uma praia fora de grandes centros.
Para chegar até lá do centro não é uma tarefa tão fácil. Transportes públicos ainda não são tão bons e táxi pode sair caro. Mesmo se estiver de carro, o trajeto pode ser demorado devido ao trânsito.
Além das lindas paias, a Zona Oeste tem outras atrações muito legais. Tem trilhas, museus, restaurantes, bares, locais de evento, quiosque abeira mar, shopping e vida noturna agitada.
Passamos uma tarde caminhando, tirando algumas fotos e principalmente relaxando na areia. Só jeito que gostamos.
Aproveitamos para comer por lá e retornamos para nosso hotel.
